WASHINGTON — If you've noticed higher prices at the grocery store recently, unfortunately, it doesn't appear like they will be lowering anytime soon. In fact, recent consumer price index numbers show prices accelerated in the last month, the highest jump since 2022.
"Before, you could put groceries in the trunk," said one shopper we spoke with about changes in the last year. "Now, you just put everything in the passenger seat. It just costs so much."
Another shopper remarked on the insane cost of fruit juice.
"You know, I think I just saw it was two juices for $9," they said. "Which sounds absurd."
So, how much have prices gone up over the last year? We spoke with University of Maryland Agricultural Economist Jim McDonald before doing a little shopping ourselves.
"Food prices are, in
