The newest variant of Covid, dubbed Stratus or XFG, has been rapidly spreading across the UK, with Scotland also seeing a spike in cases. Stratus is a highly transmissible form of the infamous virus that is characterised by a painful sore throat and raspy voice.
Covid cases in Scotland have been on the rise, with officially reported instances of the virus reaching 415 for last week (ending September 14), up from 404 the previous week, according to Public Health Scotland. Covid hospitalisations, however, have slightly declined, having reached 180 last week compared to 201 the week before.
