A new Covid variant, known as 'Stratus', is currently sweeping the UK with cases said to be rising. According to data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), there were 1,600 reported cases of Covid in the first week of September, which is a rise of 7.6 per cent.

While it should be noted that the agency isn't clear on whether the cases are due to the Stratus strain or two other variants - XFG and XFG.3 - it is clear that Brits need to take precautions to prevent the virus from spreading to vulnerable individuals.
