Under the Duck Development Plan 2025 , the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services has launched extensive measures to meet the growing demand for ducklings across the Islands and promote sustainable duck farming.
As part of the initiative, the Department proposed 40,000 duck hatching eggs —comprising 20,000 Khaki Campbell and 20,000 Vigova ducks—from the Central Poultry Development Organization (CPDO), Southern Region, Hessarghatta, Bengaluru. Of this consignment, 13,000 hatching eggs have already arrived at the Central Hatchery, Dollygunj, and are being distributed to various departmental hatcheries across the Islands for hatching.
