The retail giant launched their till-free Amazon Fresh stores in London in 2021, and now has 19 sites around the capital including Wembley Park, West Hampstead, Angel, Hoxton, and Euston.

Shoppers can download the app and load up their baskets, with in-store cameras and technology adding the items to their Amazon account.

At the West End Lane store , which welcomed its first customers last November they could walk in, select their goods and open the Amazon App at the exit gate to pay.

For those without the app, there are also self-checkout tills and customers can also pick up and return items purchased online from the in-store Amazon Hub counter.

Now, the company says it has "made the difficult decision" to end its presence on the high street but will continue to focus on delivering
