A shooting involving a police officer on Wednesday morning in Oklahoma City is under investigation, according to authorities.
The Oklahoma City Police Department says an officer was responding to a disturbance call near Southwest 64th Terrace and South May Avenue.
After making contact with a suspect and attempting to de-escalate the situation, OCPD says the suspect began throwing construction materials, including wooden boards and bricks, at the officer.
OCPDD says the officer then fired his weapon at the suspect, who was hospitalized. The officer was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
It is unknown how many times the officer fired his weapon. The officer has since been placed on administrative leave as part of police procedure.
