NEW BEDFORD — A proposal that would allow up to eight women in recovery to move into a sober home as part of High Point Treatment Center ’s programming is being appealed to the New Bedford Zoning Board of Appeals due to concerns from city officials.

Dan Mumbauer, president and CEO of Southeast Massachusetts Council on Advocacy ( SEMCOA) and High Point, both nonprofits in New Bedford, has proposed operating a substance-free lodging house — which would provide permanent housing for eight women in recovery and with disabilities — at 105 South St.
