On Monday, September 22, at approximately 10:13 p.m., a Kemper County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 16 within the town limits of DeKalb.
During the stop, the deputy detected the odor of marijuana. A subsequent search of the vehicle and driver uncovered two plastic baggies of marijuana and a Glock 43X 9mm pistol in the driver’s waistband, according to the sheriff’s office.
Before booking at the Kemper County Jail, the deputy advised the driver that additional charges would apply if contraband was brought into the facility. At that point, the driver admitted to having another plastic bag of marijuana concealed in his pants. In total, three baggies were recovered, weighing approximately 62.5 grams, authorities said.
