Widespread rain and potential thunderstorms are expected across New Jersey for the next two days, with up to 3 inches of rain possible in some spots.

The National Weather Service forecasts scattered showers and thunderstorms beginning late Wednesday afternoon, primarily in the northern half of the state.

Temperatures will remain warm, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are expected for most of the state by Friday.

On Thursday, storm chances increase to 50-80%. The National Weather Service says there’s a marginal risk for severe weather.
