Metro-North Railroad debuts its super-express trains between Poughkeepsie and Grand Central Terminal on Oct. 6, with a promise to shave time off Hudson Line commutes.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul touted the run-time improvements during a morning appearance at Grand Central Terminal.

Some daily commutes will improve by 14 minutes, 70 minutes a week, Hochul said. “It’s a game changer for people,” Hochul said. “And so, if you really want to add it up. I did. Four and a half hours extra a month back in your lives, and we’re just getting started.”

How NY's super-express train trips work

Five daily express trips between the two stops — Poughkeepsie and Grand Central Terminal — will take 90 minutes and a sixth 95 minutes, while non-express trains will take a little under two hours.
