A 17-year-old girl was wounded during a disturbance Tuesday night in front of a grocery store in the Near South Side neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Shortly after 10:30 p.m., officers responded to a call of someone shot in the 1200 block of South Wabash Avenue, and found a 17-year-old girl wounded in front of a grocery store.
The teenage girl suffered a gunshot wound to the right thigh and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where she was listed in good condition, police said.
A witness told police there was an altercation outside the grocery store between the victim and a suspect when it turned into a fight. The suspect pulled out a weapon and shot the teen, police said.
No one was in custody, and detectives were investigating.
