HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Trades will gradually decline through Wednesday as a storm far northeast of the islands moves in closer to the state.
Showers will be focused over windward slopes, and while most leeward areas will experience minimal shower activity, the Kona slopes of the Big Island will see scattered afternoon and evening showers during the afternoons, some briefly heavy.
The storm front will drift north of the islands on Thursday, disrupting trade winds and leading to a land and sea breeze pattern with localized heavy showers, mainly near Kauai, into the weekend.
Moderate trade winds due back on Sunday.
A moderate N/NE swell is due on Thursday.
A small south pulse is due Friday night.
East shores are dropping due to the lighter winds.
