PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. (WGNO) — A crash involving an Amtrak train out of New Orleans claimed the lives of two people on Tuesday.

According to the Pass Christian Police Department, around 7:14 p.m., officers and firefighters with the Pass Christian Fire Department responded to the scene of a crash between a train and a vehicle.

An investigation revealed that, at the time of the crash, the train was headed east towards Mobile, Alabama, before colliding at the corner of Davis Avenue and the railroad tracks.

As a result, 24-year-old Tavianna Ellegant was pronounced dead on the scene, while 31-year-old Douglas Craddock was pronounced dead at Ochsner Medical Center.
