Two people are dead after a vehicle and Amtrak train collided in a Mississippi Coast city Tuesday night, according to multiple media reports.

Amtrak officials told WLOX-TV in Biloxi the car was obstructing the tracks at Davis Avenue in Pass Christian when the crash occurred around 7 p.m.

Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer told the Sun Herald two people died in the incident.

Pass Christian Police Chief Darren Freeman told the Gazebo Gazette the two fatalities were the people inside of the car. All of the lights on the tracks were reportedly in working order at the time of the crash, the newspaper reported.

Switzer, Pass Christian firefighters and local police were all at the scene just before 9 p.m., according to the Sun Herald.
