In each of Nashville SC’s last two MLS games, the team had opportunity to clinch a playoff berth with a victory.
In both of those two contests, however, NSC suffered heartbreaking defeats on stoppage-time scores, falling to FC Cincinnati 2-1 on a goal in the 98 th minute and losing 3-2 to Orlando City SC on a tally in the 97 th minute.
Those results have continued a slide of late for the Boys in Gold (15-11-5), who — even while advancing to the Oct. 1 U.S. Open Cup final — have lost six of their last seven MLS contests heading into Saturday’s home game against the Houston Dynamo FC (9-13-9).
Nashville is still very likely to make the playoffs and can once again clinch the team’s fifth postseason berth with a victory against Houston.
But NSC now sits seventh in the 15-team Eastern C
