HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - This week is Child Passenger Safety Week. Kentucky State Police Troopers are working to make sure you and your child are prepared while on the roads.

KSP said 95% of child safety seats in Kentucky are incorrectly installed.

Trooper Matt Gayheart said this is just one reason why it is important to make sure you properly install a car seat.

“When children are not restrained properly their chance of injury go up dramatically when they’re involved in an collision,” Gayheart said. “It’s important that we do that and we also have several safety techs here at Kentucky State Police 13 as well as the health department who work as conjunction with.”

Gayheart said to make sure your child is properly secured and that they are using the right car seat for their weight and age.
