In a significant step towards enhancing rail connectivity between Eastern and Western India, Indian Railways has announced the launch of the Amrit Bharat Express, connecting Brahmapur in Odisha to Surat (Udhna) in Gujarat.

The inaugural train, flagged off by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi via video conferencing from Jharsuguda on September 27, 2025, at 12:00 hrs, marks a new era of affordable, efficient, and modern rail travel. This train will traverse key districts across Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, fostering economic and industrial mobility by linking mineral, textile, and trade hubs.

The Amrit Bharat Express (Train No. 09022) will depart from Brahmapur at 12:00 hrs on September 27 and arrive at Surat (Udhna) at 21:00 hrs the next day. The
