CLINTON, Tenn. (WATE) — A Clinton woman pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide by recklessness in connection to a head-on-crash that left a motorcyclist dead in July 2023.
According to Seventh Judicial District Attorney General Dave Clark, Alexys Barton pleaded guilty to the charge on Monday, September 15.
In the early morning hours of July 27, 2023, Christopher Phillips, 44, was driving to work on Clinton Highway when he was struck by a car that crossed the centerline and struck his motorcycle head-on. Phillips was killed in the crash, but the driver of the vehicle that struck him, identified by Clark's office as Barton, was not injured.
"Impaired driving can have devastating consequences. In this case, one person's reckless decision ended a life and altered the lives of an entire family
