A 66-year-old Guelph woman has been charged with careless driving after police allege she drove around barricades at a fatal collision and caused $100,000 damage to police equipment.
Guelph police said the incident occurred Sept. 19, at approximately 7:40 p.m., after officers closed Paisley Road and Alma Street North to investigate the death of a 38-year-old mother who had been hit by a pickup truck.
Police said the woman drove around large “Road Closed” signs at Paisley Road and Bagot Street, and around police vehicles and past officers yelling at her to stop. The woman then entered the collision scene and collided with a tripod-mounted 3D scanner being used in the investigation, rendering it inoperable.
