TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. (WFLA) — U.S. Senator Ashley Moody was in Pinellas County on Wednesday to highlight her fight for critical emergency safety legislation ahead of the one year anniversary of Hurricane Helene.

Treasure Island Fire Chief Tripp Barrs, Treasure Island Police Chief John Barkley, Pinellas County Commissioner Brian Scott, and Salem Communications News Director Roger Schulman were also in attendance.

Additionally, Senator Moody announced the rollout of a $113 million grant for Pinellas County that would go to low-income families who continue to struggle with housing in the wake of last year's back-to-back hurricanes.

With the one-year anniversary fast approaching, it is important to be diligent in preparing for a potential hurricane.
