TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. (WFLA) — An East Lake High School student was arrested after being accused of threatening to kill or conduct a mass shooting, according to authorities.

A release by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said that the 15-year-old sent a Snapchat and a group chat message regarding her school with the message, "Everyone is incompetent imbecile and everyone is getting shot."

Detectives assigned to the Threat Management Division spoke with the girl, who admitted to sending the Snapchat message, saying she did so jokingly because she was mad that she was not allowed to leave school early.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office arrested the student and have charged her with one count of written threats to kill or conduct a mass shooting.
