PORTLAND ( KPTV /Gray News) - A Portland family is grieving the loss of a husband and father who was killed after hitting a pothole on his e-scooter.

Randy Phelps was critically injured when he hit a pothole along Southeast 52nd Avenue in southeast Portland on Aug. 19.

His family took him off life support 20 days later on Sept. 11.

“I know he was pulled from life support on 9/11, and it was important for his family that he was an organ donor, and I know he saved three other lives with his organs,” Bobbi Jo Allen said.

Allen is the co-owner of Toast, a restaurant just down the road. He and other neighbors ran out after hearing the crash.
