GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Debbie Weinrick got drenched Tuesday, Sept. 23, just running to her car from Bill & Paul’s Sporthaus on East Paris Avenue SE.

She wasn’t the only one affected by the downpour.

Just down the road, a vehicle was stuck as isolated rainstorms caused flooding in certain parts of the Grand Rapids area.

“It wasn’t going anywhere,” Weinrick said.

She said other drivers had to turn their vehicles around to avoid getting stuck as well.

Video shared on social media showed vehicles making their way through rising waters at 28th Street SE and East Beltline Avenue.

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids reported up to 3 inches of rain in some areas.
