CLEVELAND -- The Detroit Tigers have recalled Justyn-Henry Malloy to bolster their strength from the right side in the final five games of the regular season.

In a corresponding move, Jace Jung was optioned to the minor leagues.

Jung was recalled five days ago when Colt Keith went on the injured list . He went 0-for-2 off the bench but did not start any games.

The Tigers might have called up Malloy originally but he was still going through the mandatory concussion protocol after being accidentally slugged in the head by a catcher throwing down to second base.

The Tigers wanted Malloy, a right-handed hitter, to face the Guardians and Red Sox, both with pitching staffs stocked with left-handed pitchers.

Malloy, 25, had an outstanding season with the Mud Hens, hitting .322 with a .955
