FREDERICK, Md. (DC News Now) -- A Frederick man was arrested Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery of a Sheetz convenience store, the Frederick County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) detailed.

Deputies responded to reports of an armed robbery at 3:22 a.m. at a Sheetz on 6050 Buckeystown Pike.

According to deputies, an initial investigation determined that the suspect entered the store with what appeared to be a gun under his shirt before threatening the clerk and demanding cash.

A man matching the suspect description was located nearby on Center and Washington Street and tried to run from deputies when confronted.

Deputies said Jerry Garrett Piercy, 65, was arrested without incident and was found not to have a gun on his person.
