CAMDEN – Once infamous for murder, the city of Camden recorded no homicides this summer for the first time since the 1970s, the Camden County Police Department reported on Tuesday.

The last murder was around June 12, when a Camden man, his wife and son allegedly dismembered a Deptford man after he was believed to be shot in a Baird Boulevard home.

That incident occurred about a week before summer officially began on June 20 and there were no homicides through summer’s end on Monday, the CCPD reported.
