SAXTON, Pa. (WTAJ) — Broad Top Township supervisors, along with members of the state's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, officially opened up a new intercounty trail in the region.
The Huntingdon and Broad Top Rail Trail finished up with a ribbon-cutting to put a bow on the 15-year-long project that took six phases to put together. Funded by community grants, PennDOT and DCNR, the $2.2 million project spans 13.5 miles around the peninsula of Warriors Path State Park, with engineering and consulting done by Mackin Engineering and GAI Consultants.
The path now opens up opportunities for residents to safely explore the scenic landscape, whether on foot or by bike. In turn, the new path has seen high numbers of visitors since it opened.
