ROCKFORD, Ill. — A suicide prevention event that has happened in cities nationwide is coming to Rockford.
Illinois' chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is sponsoring the Out of the Darkness (OOTD) Rockford Area Community Walk on Sunday, Oct. 5, in Rockford . The walk will provide a chance for those affected by suicide to support each other while raising awareness and funds for the AFSP.
“This cause means a lot to me,” said Doris Brenner, Walk Chair for the Rockford Area Community Walk. “I lost my uncle to suicide when I was just 11 years old, and in November of 2023, I lost my dad as well.
