The founder of a Boston-based nonprofit that provides community re-entry support services is facing federal drug charges.
Javan Tooley, 36, of Dorchester and Brockton and the founder and CEO of Adapt & Evolve LLC, was indicted last week by a federal grand jury for distribution of 28 grams or more of cocaine base. He was arraigned on Tuesday and held pending a hearing on Friday.
According to federal investigators, Tooley has an extensive track record of drug trafficking and other criminal conduct, including engaging in sex trafficking activity, as well as a prior federal conviction for drug trafficking.
In 2010, Tooley was convicted in U.S. District Court in Boston of distribution of cocaine, following a hand-to-hand sale of crack cocaine to undercover law enforcement. He was s
