“The YMCA has been a cornerstone of the community for four decades,” said L.J. Mattraw, executive director at Schererville Family YMCA. “We want to make sure that future generations will have a place to belong, to connect and to thrive.”
To that end, ground was broken — or rather walls were demolished — to incorporate the Jak's Warehouse site on U.S. 41 and make the Schererville YMCA a flagship in the Crossroads YMCA family.
“We know that living a healthy life is important,” said Jay Buckmaster, president/CEO of Crossroads YMCA. “Expanded wellness opportunities are our first priority.”
And the Y has a good foundation. It serves nearly 10,000 families and 26,000 members.
