NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Soon, all Metro Nashville Public middle schools will have a weapons detection system greeting them upon arrival. The school board unanimously approved the decision.

Some parents were caught off guard after learning that the district is planning a gradual rollout of its Evolv Weapons Detection System.

“I don’t know about middle schools, but high school and up yeah, I agree with that. They’re younger kids, so I don’t see the younger kids needing it as much as the older kids. And this is just my personal opinion. I don’t see a younger child going to grab a weapon as fast as an older child would,” said Bryan Wilcox, who has children in the school district.
