A former employee of the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency from Macomb County pleaded guilty Wednesday to conspiring to commit federal program bribery, federal prosecutors said.

Jennae Reed, 55, of Eastpointe, pleaded guilty before Judge Judith E. Levy in U.S. District Court in Detroit, according to United States Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon Jr. She faces up to five years in prison.

“As a former employee of the UIA, Jennae Reed was fully aware of the strict ethics and security

policies all UIA staff must follow. She chose to ignore those policies and create a web of deceit

that quickly became her downfall,” UIA Director Jason Palmer said in a news release. “Now, she must pay for her cynical belief that she was above the law.”
