NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway after a New Bedford cemetery was vandalized earlier this month.

Officers were called to Oak Grove Cemetery last Thursday regarding damage to several headstones.

12 News visited the cemetery Wednesday and saw a number of broken and toppled headstones.

Investigators believe the headstones were damaged on Sept. 16. So far, no arrests have been made.

Police said the vandals primarily damaged headstones closest to Park Avenue, which is near the back of the cemetery.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the New Bedford Police Department by calling (508) 991-6300.
