WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — It was a full house at Wednesday night's Woonsocket School Committee meeting as parents and teachers voiced their concerns over safety in the city's schools.
This comes after more than a dozen students were charged in a handful of fights that broke out at Woonsocket High School on Monday.
"This is going to get worse before it gets better," one person told the school committee.
"No learning can happen if the school is unsafe and chaotic," another person said.
The students involved in the fights, both boys and girls, have since been suspended.
Though no one was injured, Woonsocket Superintendent Dr. Patrick McGee stressed the importance of making sure it never happens again.
