RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Out of 10 historic sites that were recently designated as state landmarks in Virginia, four of them are located in Central Virginia.

The Commonwealth's Board of Historic Resources has approved the following properties for designation on the Virginia Landmarks Register (VLR) -- which serves as an official list of historic and culturally significant places.

Louisa County

During the Reconstruction era, the congregation of Bright Hope Baptist Church and Cemetery was established by a rural community of freedmen and freedwomen in Louisa. It was built in 1882, and has remained a social center for African Americans throughout the area.

Henrico County
