HANOVER, Va. (WWBT) - Virginia State Police are on the hunt for the suspect who shot and killed a man on I-295 in Hanover County on Tuesday night.

Authorities say 27-year-old Hunter Davis was shot at while driving his pickup truck on I-295 right near the Pole Green Road exit.

After being shot, Davis’ truck ran off the road and burst into flames, killing him.

The investigation is still in the early stages. While state police have identified the man who lost his life, they’re still working to figure out why and who did it.

Since the start of this year, there have been at least six highway shootings in Central Virginia, all but one have been deadly.
