DENVER (KDVR) — A groundbreaking event for a project planning to deliver "long-needed safety and mobility improvements" along Vasquez Boulevard in Commerce City was held Wednesday.

The Colorado Department of Transportation, along with Commerce City, Adams County and other partners, held the event to recognize the groundbreaking of construction for the Vasquez Boulevard Improvements Project, which began in July.

The project will be bringing upgrades along the corridor between Interstate 270 and 64th Avenue. The project has already started in the first of two phases for safety and traffic improvements on Vasquez Boulevard, according to CDOT's website.
