RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - According to multiple reports , VSP said it is investigating a fatal shooting that happened on I-64 in York County.

Officials said the shooting happened near mile marker 242 on Wednesday.

Reports said a 2024 blue Honda sports vehicle drove off the road and struck the guardrail in the eastbound lanes just west of mile marker 243.

The woman driving the car was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died, according to VSP.

Officials have not yet said if the shooting is connected to the crash.

All eastbound lanes on I-64 remain closed while police investigate.

VSP said there are no active threats to drivers.
