BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Head Coach of the Men's Basketball at CSUB is stepping down as of Wednesday, according to school officials.

According to the school, Head Coach Rod Barnes has decided to end his tenure with CSUB immediately.

The school said Assistant Coach Mike Scott will serve as interim head coach.

Barnes coached CSUB for 14 seasons, accumulating a 210-231 record with the team.

In the statement, CSUB President Vernon B. Harper Jr. said, quote, "I want to thank Coach Barnes for guiding our scholar-athletes since 2011 and for emphasizing academic excellence, teamwork, community engagement and the highest level of competition.
