NEW ORLEANS — What began as a has turned into a new mission to help a neighbor in need.

When officers drained a backyard pool in New Orleans East earlier this month, they didn’t find the missing boy — but they did discover a homeowner overwhelmed by her property and unable to manage it on her own.

The home, located on the 13000 block of Sevres Street, belongs to Tatiana Bevona, who says injuries and disabilities have left her unable to keep up with her yard.

“I’m in amazement and utter gratitude,” Bevona said. “This is a yard that was my mom’s that I used to keep up for, and all of a sudden, your disability is kind of overwhelming. You look around, I can’t do this anymore. So I’m so grateful.”
