The Torrington Board of Education passed a dress code policy for employees at a meeting Wednesday evening.

Gary Eucalitto, a Board of Education member who chairs the policy committee, proposed a dress code for staff after discussions about updating the student dress code.

“I think the staff needs to understand that that is it is important to present an image," Eucalitto said at the meeting.

Ed Corey, a co-chairperson for the board, said there was not an incident that prompted the dress code.

“The vast majority of our teachers are already in compliance with the policy that just passed the vast majority of the time," he said. "Nobody's been getting in trouble, and we expect that to continue."
