A 29-year-old Indian-origin man has been charged with murder after stabbing a 71-year-old man to death in California's Fremont. Varun Suresh said he targeted David Brimmer because he was a "paedophile". Suresh, who was charged with murder on Tuesday, admitted that he wanted to kill a paedophile for years. He identified Brimmer, a registered sex offender, assumed a persona to approach him, and then stabbed him fatally.

According to court documents, Suresh told police he targeted Brimmer after finding his profile on a public sex offender registry. Brimmer was listed on California's Megan's Law website for a 1995 conviction related to inappropriate sexual acts with a child.
