GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Dearborn man will serve prison time after going on an “aggressive, antisemitic tirade” at a synagogue.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Eastern District of Michigan said Hassan Chokr was sentenced to 34 months in prison on Wednesday. Last May, he pleaded guilty to a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to the USAO, the charges stem from an incident in December of 2022 when he drove through the parking lot of Temple Beth El in Bloomfield Hills, yelling profanities, attacking their support for Israel and saying they would “pay.”
After being asked to leave the property, the 38-year-old drove to a nearby gun store and tried to buy three firearms.
