They’re sad looking, rusty and covered in graffiti. Soon this derelict fleet of NJ Transit locomotives, parked on a track in the North Jersey woods for 12 years, will be sold for scrap.

But first, NJ Transit had to settle $27.5 million it owed to the federal government for retiring them before the end of their useful life.
