AUGUSTA, Maine (WABI) - An Augusta woman convicted of sexual exploitation of a minor in June of 2021 appeared before a judge.

Jessica Cox, 36, received a sentence of five years in prison including six years of probation back in June of 2021.

Court records say Cox allegedly violated her probation and engaged in new criminal conduct.

The judge said she was in violation of the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act on June 26 after failing to show up for a hearing and not updating her living address.

“We’re not trying to be punitive here, we just need you to show up when we ask you to show up and that includes complying with the probation conditions and also you need to show up in court,” said Justice William Stokes. “Otherwise, we have no alternative but to issue arrest warrants.
