EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Starting in 2027, East Providence's mayor and City Council members will get a pay raise.

Earlier this month, the City Council approved a proposal to raise their annual salaries and the mayor's in a 4-1 vote.

A spokesperson for Mayor Bob DaSilva confirmed the mayor signed the ordinances into law on Sept. 17.

The raises bring city councilors' salaries to $9,000, the council president's to $10,000 and the mayor's to $120,000, according to DaSilva's spokesperson.

Currently, the mayor makes $90,000 a year, while a city councilor makes $3,500 and the council president makes $4,500.

Councilor Anna Sousa was the only member to vote against the raises, expressing concerns they could have on the city budget and workers.
