COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A Colorado Springs man, who recently climbed the Manitou Incline in 30 days, is now onto bigger heights, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro.
“I have been climbing with the 25-pound backpack I am using for Kilimanjaro, plus ankle weights,” Nunes said regarding his 30-day hike up the Manitou Incline.
Mt. Kilimanjaro is Africa’s tallest mountain, standing at over 19,000 ft. Leo left for his trip on Friday, Sept. 19, and is now, as of Sept. 25, on Day 4 of climbing the mountain.
September is officially proclaimed ‘Prostate Cancer Awareness Month’ in the city of Colorado Springs and the state, which is why Nunes climbs.
Nunes has been an advocate when it comes to shedding light on the cancer, due to his own experience with it.
“I was diagnosed at 49 years old, Stage
