LYNDHURST — The 31st annual Lyndhurst Turkey Fair greeted thousands on Saturday. Parked cars stretched for miles along County Road 33, a witness to the fair’s enduring lure.
Under blue skies and mild temperatures, throngs milled the streets, many returning year after year, enjoying the tradition and the free admission.

Though the days of the fair being used to sell turkey and other fowl in preparation for Thanksgiving and Christmas have disappeared, the autumnal spirit of the fair has not. With the trees already tinged with red, the Turkey Fair’s annual time of the third Saturday in September, appropriately fell square on the first day of fall, heralding the season of bounty and giving.
