Ky. college fisherman reported missing during Texas fishing tournament

KENTUCKY (WKYT) - A Kentucky college fisherman in Texas for a fishing tournament has been reported missing.

Springfield, Ky. resident Sara Ashley Hughes says her son, Peyton Hughes, a member of the Campbellsville University Kayak Fishing Team, went missing during a fishing tournament on Toledo Bend Lake in Hemp Hill, Texas.

The Bass Anglers Sportsman Society reports that the kayaker’s travel partner contacted authorities after the angler did not arrive at a designated meeting place on Sept. 24.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department officers began a search and have since located the angler’s kayak. However, the angler has not yet been found.

The investigation is ongoing.
