HOMER — District 6 Rep. Sarah Vance has issued a sharp rebuke of the Homer News following its coverage of a Sept. 17 vigil for conservative activist Charlie Kirk, calling the article “hate-baiting at its worst” and urging Sound Publishing to review its editorial standards.

In a letter, which bore official State Legislature letterhead, sent Wednesday to Sound Publishing Executive Vice President John Carr, Vance blasted the newspaper for what she described as inflammatory language and ideological bias. The article, headlined “Homer holds vigil for Charlie Kirk,” recounted the beachside gathering organized by Vance and community member Cassie Lawver. Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed while speaking at a Utah campus event on Sept. 10.
